About Barbarian Music
Mission Statement
Our goal is to build community through music. We plan to do this by
helping independent musicians make a living at their craft, bringing
fans together to hear music, helping local venues promote their
concerts, and contributing back to the community with our time and
money.
Why We Started
Barbarian Music was started for one simple reason: We love music!
Especially those upstart, independent musicians that are passionate
about what they do. We want to bring the joy of that passion and music
to as many people as we can. So I guess you can say we have two more
reasons for starting Barbarian Music: musicians and fans.
For Musicians
We have worked hard to provide a great environment for musicians
to sell their music. Any musician can upload their music at no cost
to them. In addition, musicians set their own prices, we help
promote their shows, provide tools for selling their music online,
and we always make sure they retain full control of their music.

For Fans
As a music fan, you have the opportunity to find and listen to
the best independent music around. You also get the satisfaction
of helping poor, broke, struggling, hard-working musicians try to
make it in the world. Or, if socialism isn't your thing, you can own
some great new music and be the coolest kid on the block for discovering
it first.

Our History
Barbarian Music can trace its roots back to Minneapolis, MN and an
incredible show by The Honeydogs at a bar called the Cabooze.
That was the first live show Barbarian Music founder Matt McCormick
ever attended and he has been addicted ever since.
For several years, Matt indulged his lust for live music by attending as many shows as possible. Then one day he realized his corporate job was getting in the way. So in 2007 he quit the corporate world and took his passion for music and love of programming to create BarbarianMusic.com.
So I guess you could say that our "history" is more of a "current event", and you have the chance to get involved at the beginning. We are excited to have you here and hope you'll take the time to check us out.
